German Premium A-Class Specialist Cover

Carthago Motorhome Insurance

– Agreed Value Cover from Specialist Brokers

Insuring a Carthago needs a broker who understands what you’ve actually bought. Mainstream comparison sites undervalue premium A-class builds and don’t recognise AL-KO chassis specifications. We connect you with UK specialist brokers who properly cover the c-line, c-tourer, chic c-line, chic e-line, highliner, and Malibu range — at agreed value, with European touring cover included as standard.

Carthago is a premium German motorhome brand with values that typically start above £80,000 and often exceed £150,000. Many standard motorhome insurers cap the values they can cover, which is why a specialist comparison can save time.

MultiQuoteTime connects Carthago owners with brokers whose underwriters work with high-value motorhomes.

About Carthago Motorhomes

Carthago Reisemobilbau was founded in 1979. The company is headquartered in Aulendorf in southern Germany, having previously been based in Ravensburg. It is one of Europe’s leading premium motorhome manufacturers, with around 1,400 employees and production sites in Germany and Slovenia.

The Carthago range covers integrated A-class motorhomes (the Liner range) and low-profile coachbuilt models including the C-Compactline, C-Line and Chic C-Line, built on Fiat Ducato, Iveco Daily and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis. The brand is known for full-LED lighting, lightweight construction and all-year-round habitability, supported by an active UK dealer network.

Most Carthago motorhomes on UK roads are left-hand drive, either ex-demonstrator vehicles imported from Germany or privately purchased direct from European dealers. LHD imports require specialist underwriting that mainstream comparison sites cannot accommodate.

Cover Options for Your Carthago

Three cover types matter most for Carthago owners. Make sure your policy includes all three.

Agreed Value Cover

For Carthago owners who want their motorhome insured at its true market worth, not a depreciated book value. Important for high-spec models and well-maintained examples.

High-Value Specialist Cover

For motorhomes valued above £60,000 to £100,000 where standard motorhome insurers may not be able to help. Through MultiQuoteTime you have access to specialist brokers who work with higher agreed values.

European Touring Cover

For Carthago owners who travel across Europe. Check the number of days included in your base policy and whether driving abroad is covered on the same terms as in the UK.

Carthago Motorhome Range: Models & Insurance Considerations

Each Carthago model sits at a different price point and chassis spec. Insurance underwriting, agreed values, and storage requirements vary accordingly. Here’s how the current range breaks down.

c-tourer Fiat Ducato AL-KO 6.6m – 7.4m 2 – 4 £85k – £110k First-time premium buyers, couples
c-line Fiat Ducato AL-KO 6.7m – 7.9m 2 – 4 £105k – £140k Long-tour couples, full-timers
chic c-line Fiat Ducato AL-KO 7.4m – 8.6m 2 – 4 £130k – £170k High-spec touring, garage models
chic e-line Iveco Daily AL-KO 8.4m – 9.1m 2 – 4 £165k – £210k Luxury full-time living, premium garage
highliner Iveco Daily AL-KO 8.7m – 9.5m 2 – 4 £195k – £260k+ Top-tier flagship, panoramic living
Malibu Mercedes Sprinter / Fiat 5.4m – 7.0m 2 – 4 £70k – £105k Van conversion, daily-drivable

Prices indicative for new UK-supplied vehicles, varying by spec and dealer. Used market values are typically 30 – 50% lower depending on age and condition.

Insurance Notes by Model

c-tourer & c-line

The entry points to the Carthago A-class range. Insurance underwriters generally treat these as standard premium A-class on Fiat Ducato AL-KO chassis, but mainstream insurers still mis-quote against the standard Ducato. Specialist brokers correctly recognise the wider AL-KO low-frame, which affects parts replacement and total-loss valuation.

chic c-line

Mid-range models with garage capacity for a small car or scooter. Agreed value cover is essential here as base values approach £150k. Most Carthago owners at this level tour Europe extensively, so confirm cover for at least 180 days continuous EU travel rather than the standard 90.

chic e-line & highliner

Iveco Daily-based premium A-class with full-size garage. Replacement cost can exceed £200k, making agreed value documentation critical. These vehicles are also higher theft targets in storage, so specialist brokers will require a tracker, key safe, and named storage location for best rates.

Malibu Range

Carthago’s van conversion sub-brand on Mercedes Sprinter or Fiat base. Underwritten as a premium van conversion rather than full A-class. Some brokers in the Carthago specialist panel quote Malibu separately, others bracket it with their wider campervan offering.
