Express Motorbike Insurance

Express motorbike insurance is the bike cover offered by Express Insurance Services, a trading name of Carole Nash Insurance Consultants Ltd. We are not affiliated with Express and do not sell their policies. MultiQuoteTime is an Introducer Appointed Representative, so you can compare quotes from a panel of UK motorbike insurance brokers we have access to in one quick form.

Because Express sits within the same business as Carole Nash, one of the best-known names in UK motorcycle insurance, an Express quote and a Carole Nash quote can draw on the same underwriters rather than being genuine rivals. The way to see whether either is competitive for your bike is to compare them against other brokers, which is exactly what one quick form lets you do.

Express Insurance Cover Levels Explained

Express structures its motorbike cover into three named tiers, each building on the one below:

Essentials

The core tier, which includes EU cover and a 24/7 emergency accident helpline as standard.

Essentials Plus

Everything in Essentials, plus motor legal expenses cover of up to £100,000.

Premier

Everything in Essentials Plus, plus roadside assistance for breakdowns.

These tiers sit on top of your chosen level of cover, whether that is third party only, third party fire and theft, or comprehensive. As cover and benefits can change, always check the current policy details before you buy, and compare an Express quote against other brokers on the panel we have access to.

Is Express Insurance the Same as Carole Nash?

Express Insurance Services and Carole Nash are part of the same business. Express trades under Carole Nash Insurance Consultants Ltd, which is FCA-regulated and one of the longest-standing motorcycle insurance names in the UK, now part of the Ardonagh group.

For a rider, the practical point is that they are not two independent quotes to weigh against each other. An Express quote and a Carole Nash quote can come from the same underwriters, so treating them as separate options will not necessarily show you a cheaper price. To know whether either is competitive for your bike, compare them against other brokers on the panel we have access to.

Do I Need Motorbike Insurance?

A motorbike must be insured even if it is not being used on public roads. The only exception is if it has been officially declared off the road with a Statutory Off Road Notification (SORN). This requirement is part of the Continuous Insurance Enforcement (CIE) regulations.

As such, you’ll need at least third-party cover, which is the legal minimum requirement in the UK. Most insurance providers offer three levels of protection, as outlined in the table below.

This is the most basic and often the cheapest form of motorcycle or scooter insurance you can have to be road legal. If you are involved in an accident, it will only cover costs to anyone else involved. If the accident was not your fault, you will have to recover the losses from the other party, which means proving beyond all doubt that they were to blame for the accident.

This option offers the same level of cover as Third Party but also provides additional protection against theft or fire damage. If your bike or scooter is stolen or damaged by fire beyond repair, this cover will pay out to replace it with a bike of similar age, condition, and value.

This level of cover still does not cover damage to your bike in an accident that is your fault.

Comprehensive coverage offers the highest level of protection. This not only pays out to others but also covers your motorbike, moped or scooter in the event of an accident.

Having motorbike insurance gives you complete peace of mind, knowing you’re protected in the event of an accident or if your bike is damaged.
