Who are LV=?

The Britannia rescue service is part of the Liverpool Victoria insurance family who has been assisting UK citizens with financial protection for more than 175 years. They employ more than 3,000 service technicians that are on call 24/7.

What does Britannia rescue offer in terms of services?

From Britannia Rescue, there are 5 different levels of protection for the UK driver. With these options, a person can pick the cover they need at a price that can fit their budget. The different packages include the following;

Roadside assist

– It provides a technician to come to the aid of the stranded motorist that is at a minimum 1/4th of a mile from their home residence.
– If repairs on the road can’t be made the vehicle will be towed up to 10 miles to the nearest garage.

Roadside assist

– Has the same services as roadside assist.
– This also includes help at your home residence if your vehicle does not start. If repairs can’t be made, the vehicle will be towed to the nearest garage.

UK recovery

– Has the same services as roadside assist.
– This also includes help at your home residence if your vehicle does not start. If repairs can’t be made the vehicle will be towed to the nearest garage.

UK recovery and home assist

– Has the same services as both Roadside and home assist and UK recovery.
– Provides a hire car or overnight accommodations if repairs can’t be made the same day as the breakdown.

All of the above policies are to cover the named vehicle. Each of the above can also be offered as a personal policy where a named person, not the vehicle will be protected with cover. This protection offer assistance to the named person immaterial of the vehicle they are in when it breaks down.

What does Britannia rescue not offer?

Because Britannia rescue has been around for so long, they are behind the times of innovation. Unlike other startup insurance firms that offer an app for use on a smartphone for policyholders to manage their accounts, Britannia rescue does not have one. They do have a website to help the policyholder manage their account.

Can I pay for Britannia Rescue breakdown cover monthly?

Yes, the policy covers the vehicle regardless of the driver, as long as they have your permission to drive the vehicle. If you wish to have breakdown cover that will allow you to have cover when you drive different vehicles, you need to apply for personal breakdown cover. At the moment, this is not available with LV+ Personal breakdown cover is

Will LV= provide cover if I am towing a trailer or caravan?

Your vehicle will still be covered when towing, but check the details as if the trailer is the fault of the breakdown then you may not be covered. Normally if the vehicle breaks down whilst towing they will also look after what ever is being towed.
Some providers such as CompareBreakdwnCover actually provide a car and caravan breakdown cover policy. This also includes trailers.
